We lovingly refer to our hydroponic Gardyn system as Montana Max Farms. This is where our love for growing our own produce began. With almost no experience in growing plants, in fact more experience killing them, we took the leap into hydroponic gardening.
The vertical Garden hydroponic system has room for 30 plants. It is fed by a 6 gallon water tank at the bottom and through 3 vertical pipes. There are 2 tall vertical grow lights with cameras attached. Why the cameras you ask? It’s a Wi-Fi controlled AI powered smart system that works simply through an app on your phone. These cameras take pictures of your plants throughout the day and the smart system recognizes each individual plant by the dot pattern on each plant pod. So cool! Gardyn technology has even identified plants grown not sold by Gardyn itself. And even more impressive, this smart technology automatically adjusts the lighting and watering schedule based on the needs of your plants. The System will even send you reminders to add water, plant food, or to alert you to plants that need your attention. How cool is that? Especially for the non-green thumbs out there.
Gardyn offers a subscription-based service that includes discounted plant pods and even a “vacation mode” that reduces the watering and lighting intensity so that plant growth slows down while you are away.
The quality of the greenery grown by the Gardyn is unparalleled. Herbs and produce like chives, cilantro, and even celery have such fresh and potent flavors. There is absolutely no comparison that can be drawn between store bought produce and home-grown hydroponic produce flavor. Fresh flowers can be grown in the Gardyn as well. The rate at which greens will grow in the Gardyn will absolutely astonish you. Plants will start sprouting as early as 4 days. Upon maturity and with regular harvesting (depending on the type of plant) Herbs and lettuces will continually produce fresh produce on average of 3-4 months.
Caring for your Gardyn is also incredibly easy. The app has reminders for tank maintenance and trimming of your plants roots and leaves. Even reminders when your tank is running low makes maintaining healthy plants takes virtually no time at all.
